Every week, during main lessons on Thursday, I assist the 3rd grade teacher in delivering the Practical Arts curriculum.  We split the class into 2 groups and rotate groups halfway through.  Later in the year I hope to do it in 3 groups to include building projects and parent participation. During this first trimester Miss Clemens has started seeds and done some cooking. 

The 8th grade gardening class transplanted some bell pepper starts from my home garden.  They became the first residents in our newly strengthened greenhouse (thanks to second grade class assistant, Mr. Ferguson). We also harvested lavender flowers for use in good smelling handwork projects and future cooking endeavors.  Some snowball echinacea seeds were also saved. Welcome new and returning families to the 2019-2020 school year. We are off to a great start! In preparation for this school year, Orchard faculty and staff have worked in unity with diligence to develop a school-wide behavior plan. Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe are the norms we have agreed to hold throughout the entire school. Class Teachers and Specialty Teachers are focusing on these "3 B's" with their classes as they teach students how these norms look in each classroom.
